This Privacy Policy explains how NepaliTeacher ("the App", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the mobile application. We designed this policy to be clear, specific to this app, and suitable for app store disclosure.

1.1 Information you provide in the app
- Profile details, such as your display name and selected avatar emoji.
- Learning content you type, such as translation input and AI story prompts.
- Optional AI API keys you enter (for OpenAI and/or Gemini), if you enable AI features.
1.2 Information stored on your device
NepaliTeacher stores app data locally (for example: progress, completed lessons, streaks, XP, gems, settings, AI preferences, and saved stories) using on-device storage.
1.3 Device and usage data collected by third-party SDKs/services
Some third-party services used by the app may collect technical or usage information independently (for example advertising identifiers, device information, diagnostics, and interaction events), according to their own privacy policies.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide core learning features (lessons, quizzes, speech tools, translations, stories).
- To save your progress and preferences between sessions.
- To generate AI story content when you request it.
- To show ads and support app operations.
- To improve app reliability, performance, and user experience.
3. AI Features and External Processing
If you use AI story features, your prompts and related generated-content requests are sent directly from your device to the provider you selected in app settings (OpenAI and/or Google Gemini APIs).
- Your AI API keys are stored locally on your device by the app.
- We do not run our own proxy server for AI requests.
- AI providers process submitted content under their own terms and privacy policies.
4. Translation and Speech Features
- Translation requests may be sent to MyMemory Translation API when online translation is used.
- Microphone access is used only for voice input functionality that you actively start.
- Speech recognition and text-to-speech may rely on device OS or vendor speech services.
5. Advertising
The app uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display interstitial advertisements. AdMob may collect and use data as described in Google's policies.
6. Permissions We Request
INTERNET: Required for online features (ads, AI requests, translation API calls).RECORD_AUDIO: Required only when using voice input/speech recognition.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only as needed to provide requested functionality via integrated third-party services (for example ads, AI generation, or online translation).
8. Data Retention and Deletion
- Locally stored data remains on your device until you clear app data, uninstall the app, or reset settings.
- Data sent to third-party services is retained according to each provider's own retention practices.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical measures in the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device and any credentials entered into the app.
10. Children's Privacy
NepaliTeacher is a learning app that may be used by students. We do not knowingly collect personal information through our own backend services. Because third-party services (such as ads or cloud AI services) may process data, parents/guardians should supervise child use and review third-party privacy policies.
